5. The main street
The inhabitants, the craftsmen, the shopkeepers, the women and the children are posing for the photographer. The Saint-Parize- Le -Châtel life is on this street. On each side of the main street you can see shops. The farmers, then the most important economic force of the village allowed these shopkeepers and cratsmen to make a living. You can see the inn « LE LION D’OR » , the tailor’s « PAGES » , the harnessmaker’s, the blacksmith’s, the haberdashery, the hosiery, the shoe shop in the same shop, the tobacconist’s selling « LE PETIT JOURNAL », the bar which was also the grocery. The hens could go freely, the ground was not tarred yet and the gutters were paved.
