2. The townhall
It was long before the 1884 law, when the municipalities had to have a townhall, that Saint- Parize- le- Châtel got its own in 1850 settling its « maison communale » in this smart and adequate building. Its high windows let the light in widely. The townhall was on the ground floor. The local schoolmaster of the boys’ school lived on the first floor. The former classrooms are now a ceremonial hall. The old courtyard is still here and we can stll hear the laughters of the schoolchildren playing.
